Ducker Worldwide, contracted by the Adhesives & Sealants Council (ASC), performed an extensive study on the Caulks and Sealants market. Expanded from historical ASC reports, the updated Caulks and Sealants market report includes not only market size, volume and other data, but also qualitative information on key trends and market drivers. Additionally, the report includes customer insight into needs, regulatory concerns and market opportunities. According to Steve Duren, director of members services for ASC, the focus of this effort, is to provide association members with a stronger sense of customer preferences and current North American market conditions with respect to sealant technology.
Breaking the market down into four sub-categories, roofing, fenestration, transportation and the Do-It-Yourself market, Ducker analyzed distribution channels, significant market drivers and top purchasing decision makers. Within each of the sub-segments, Ducker estimated utilization rates and forecasted four-year production levels considering market drivers as well as determined the value propositions of different sealant chemistries. Ducker Worldwide is uniquely positioned with experience in relevelent markets to provide insightful, unbiased perspective. Ducker Worldwide Prinicipal Katie Janess led the effort and explained at endeavor's commencement, “We will focus on depth and quality of customer input vs quantity of interviews and will provide an independent, data and fact-based assessment of prioritised opportunities for ASC and its members.”
As part of the process, our team evaluated the purchase decision process to determine the major influencers that affect sealant selection for each product segment. Ducker also looked into the roles of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in sealant selection, including whether or not Type III EPDs will be a “must have” for sealants chosen for LEED projects, and how important obtaining two EPD points will be. The close working relationship between Ducker Worldwide and ASC allowed us to capture invaluable information about the caulk and sealant markets, ultimately included in this report and assisting readers in improving processes and product development efforts.
